Calraet-2

Abraham van Calraet's paintings of horses were often remarkably similar to those of Aelbert Cuyp. Although the cows in the background are surprisingly reminiscent of paintings by Cuyp, the typically Dutch meadow landscape is characteristic of Van Calraet's work. Since both artists employed the same monogram AC, it can hardly be wondered at that their oeuvres tended to be confused.
