To reinforce the painting an extra layer of tissue adhesive was added to the front. For this, a vacuum hot table was used. The painting was laid out with the painted surface face up and a layer of synthetic foil stretched over the top. This was then heated to 60 degrees Celsius and vacuumed to ensure that no air pockets and blisters would appear. The heat was then lowered to room temperature while the vacuum pump continued to maintain light pressure.
