This remarkably colourful floral still life is one of the Fattorini Van Huysums sold in December 2003 for over 4 million euros, excluding mark-up, at Sotheby’s of London. It is one of the most important late Van Huysums and was acquired by William II in 1823 for 5.000 guilders. It was displayed in the Grey Salon at Palais de la Nouvelle Cour in Brussels beside our Backhuyzen, for which the prince paid around 6,000 guilders.
