Frederick Henry knew the love story of Theagenes and Chariclea from the series of paintings at Fontainebleau palace. Chariclea was a priestess of Apollo whom Theagenes, a descendent of Achilles, met at the Pythian Games in Delphi. The instant she handed him the torch with which to light the sacrifice, the spark of love was ignited in both their hearts. Theagenes won the race and it was from Chariclea that he received the prize. Deeply in love, the couple decide to look for Chariclea's parents who had left her as a foundling when she was born. A series of exciting episodes follow and eventually culminate in a happy ending.
