Active in Amsterdam, Willem Kalf had a considerable influence on Jurriaen van Streeck. This is particularly reflected in his choice of a limited number of luxury objects combined with a few natural products. A comparison between a still life by Willem Kalf in the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum and the picture by Van Streeck serves to point-up the similarities and differences between them. Both works feature a few, albeit precious, objects, arranged on a stone table in the semidarkness.
